light on grow kit, pls help

I had to switch lights on my grow kit. i now have a 33 watt florecent, and that is the best i can do for right now. about how long a day should i have it on the kit?

12 hours on 12 hours off is good.The rule of thumb is,if you can see the cake,then you have enough light.

I used to go with three hours on in the AM and 3-4 in the PM. If you miss a day or two, i.e. no light they will grow in some weird directions. Rotating the fruiting chamber twice a day when fanning has caused some strains to grow twisted, or swirled shrooms. They look cool!
