African Dream Root belongs to a group of oneirogens called dream herbs. African Dream Root is the root of the Silene capensis a flowering plant indigenous to the Eastern Cape of South Africa.Dream herbs contribute to experiencing lucid (vivid) dreams. African Dream Root is one of the Ubulawu herbs, these South African dream herbs are used to induce prophetic visions and dreams. South African natives believe that dreams are bestowed upon a person by ancestral spirits to impart spiritual wisdom. For thousands of years, the indigenous peoples of Africa and Central America have used dream herbs to enhance dreams and explore the subconscious. This “trip” can lead to valuable insights into fears, hopes, desires, and the future. Some dream herbs can help clarify dreams while others prolong dreams. African Dream Root contains saponins. Saponins are compounds that foam up much like soap when stirred in water. Drinking the foam is said to induce lucid dreams, aid memory and dream recall (remembering a dream upon waking).

Dosage
Grind the root (250mg). Beat/stir the ground root in cold water until the mixture begins to foam. Or pour boiling water over 250mg of ground root, and allow it to steep for 5 minutes. Drink the foam or tea in the morning before eating breakfast and/or right before bed on an empty stomach. Repeat this every day for at least a week.
