Description
Lactuca virosa, also known as wild lettuce or opium lettuce, can be found growing in the wild throughout North America, Central and Southern Europe. The use of wild lettuce for ritual and medicinal purposes most likely dates back to the time of the ancient Egyptians. Wild lettuce can be added to a joint, vaporised or prepared as a tea. The active components are lactucin and lacopricin. Dandelion, another member of the Asteraceae family, contains the same active compounds. Wild lettuce can be used as a substitute for opium. The herb is a mild sedative and may prolong the dream state.

Effect

The effect is often described as opium-like. Calming. Sedating. Relaxing. Euphoric.

Dosage
Vaporise (125°-150°C) or add 0.5-1 gram to a joint.
Prepare as a tea, add 1-2 teaspoons per cup. For a stronger effect make an extract. Allow 1 gram to soak in warm water for 8 hours. Strain out the plant material. Heat the remaining liquid au bain marie until you’re left with a gum-like substance. Use the residual material like you would opium.

Content
25 grams. Cut plant material.
