What is activated carbon?
Activated charcoal, also called activated carbon or medicinal charcoal, is a special type of carbon usually made from coconut shells. What makes activated charcoal special is its structure. Low-volume pores increase the surface area, allowing for large-volume absorption of pollutants. It's widely used for purifying air, drinking water, and even medicinally for the treatment of poisoning or drug overdoses by absorbing toxins. Activated carbon filters reduce tar and other unwanted pollutants in smoke. The inhale is more pleasant and smooth, and leads to less irritation of the throat and lungs.
Does an activated charcoal filter out cannabinoids and terpenes?
Activated carbon's porous structure traps and holds harmful toxins in smoke. ActiTube filters take the gunk out of your skunk, not the good stuff.
How often can I reuse one actiTube filter?
We recommend replacing the filter after 1-2 uses. Take a look at the ActiTube Activated Carbon Filter when you’re done. That dark brown colour, that’s all the gunk you were inhaling before.
Why are the filters clogging up?
When hot smoke comes in contact with cool activated carbon, the humidity levels inside the filter lead to clogging. Take smaller puffs to slow down heat up.
