Combretum quadragulare commonly known as Sakae Naa is a small, tree-like plant from the Combretaceae family. Combretum is native to South-East Asia, more precisely Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar. Traditionally the plant is smoked, chewed or prepared as a tea. Its effects are very much comparable to Kratom (Mytragyna speciosa), which is why it is mostly known as a Kratom substitute. About a hundred flavonoids and triterpenes have been identified thought to be responsible for its soothing and pleasurable qualities. The most important active ingredient is combretol.
