Niacin (vitamin B3) is an essential B-complex vitamin. Niacin is involved in energy production, neurotransmitter synthesis, blood flow and oxygen transport, contributing to nervous system and cognitive health. Now Foods Flush-Free Niacin contains 500mg per capsule. Suitable for vegetarians and vegans.
What is niacin?
Niacin is a B vitamin that the body uses to turn food into energy. Niacin also helps maintain skin health, a normal functioning nervous system, supports digestive health and brain health. Most people get enough niacin through their diet. Niacin is the generic name for all forms of vitamin B3 like nicotinic acid, nicotinamide, nicotinamide riboside and inositol hexanicotinate.
What is inositol hexanicotinate?
Now Foods Flush-free niacin contains inositol hexanicotinate, a form of niacin consisting of six niacin molecules linked to a single inositol molecule. It is slowly broken down in the body to yield free niacin and inositol (vitamin B8). This gradual release of niacin allows for true niacin activity without the characteristic niacin flush that many cannot tolerate.
What is niacin (vitamin B3) used for?
- For maintaining healthy skin and normal mucous membranes
- For nervous system health, memory and learning performance
- Supports energy levels
How does niacin (vitamin B3) work in the body?
Niacin is a precursor to molecules NAD (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) and NADP (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate) involved in many chemical reactions, like the synthesis of neurotransmitters. Neurotransmitters are chemical messengers essential for proper brain function. NAD and NADP are also involved in energy metabolism; they help your body convert food into energy. Niacin is a vasodilator, blood vessels widen allowing blood to flow through more easily.
Is 500mg of niacin too much?
Niacin refers to all forms of vitamin B3, which can be confusing. Niacin is water soluble; excess amounts leave the body via urine. Clinical trials have been done on the safety and efficacy of Inositol hexanicotinate. Unfortunately, EU regulations prevent us from making medical claims. Flush or no-flush niacin, what’s the difference?
Vitamin B3 is available in different forms: rapid-release nicotinic acid, which causes a flushing effect, and slow release flush-free niacinamide and inositol hexanicotinate. Flushing makes your skin look red, feel warm, and tingly. Many cannot tolerate the uncomfortable sensation of a niacin flush.
What are the possible side effects of taking niacin?
Niacin (Inositol hexanicotinate) is well tolerated by most healthy individuals. Side effects may include stomach upset, gas and nausea. Follow the recommended dosage. If you have a medical condition such as liver problems, stomach ulcers, low or high blood pressure or diabetes consult your physician before using this product.
Microdosing Protocol
Mycologist Paul Stamets created the Stamets Stack, a neurogenesis stack that combines niacin, Lion’s Mane (Hericium erinaceus) and psilocybin. Niacin plays a crucial role in supporting overall health, including brain health and cognitive function. Create your own stack with our microdosing pack, flush-free niacin and Lion’s Mane. Microdosing Protocols follow a set schedule. Stack on the days you take a microdose. Keep in mind that different people react differently to Stamet's nootropic formula. Always start with a low dose to test your sensitivity.
