Description
Hypericum perforatum is a perennial plant with medicinal properties. The plant grows throughout Europe and bears bright yellow flowers. Since antiquity, St. John’s wort has been a valuable and revered plant; there are many legends surrounding its use. Traditionally St. John’s wort was harvested during the summer solstice on Midsummer’s Eve, the night before St. John’s Day (June 24), when the plant was thought to possess miraculous powers. These days it’s widely accepted that St. John’s wort’s sunny disposition can help maintain a healthy emotional balance, contributes to a positive mental outlook and mood. The plant’s main active components are hypericin, pseudohypericin, and hyperforin. St. John’s wort helps regulate serotonin levels and the levels of other neurotransmitters such as dopamine, GABA and noradrenaline. Do not use St. John’s wort in combination with any other substances; St. John’s wort can interact and may interfere with how these substances work.

Dosage
Prepare as a tea. Add 1-2 teaspoons to a cup of boiling water. Steep for 10-15 minutes.
Vaporise (100°-150°C) or add to a joint.
