Description
Yerba maté, Ilex paraguariensis, is a tree found in the rainforests of South America. In the wild, the tree can grow to a height of 15 meters. The Guarani and the Tupi were the first tribes to drink mate. The invigorating drink, an infusion made from the leaves of the tree, is a rich source of caffeine, theobromine, theophylline and antioxidants. Yerba maté is a popular beverage in the central and southern parts of South America. The drink is often served in a traditional maté or gourd with a metal drinking straw called a bombilla.

Yerba maté contains vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, amino acids and other beneficial phytonutrients.
Effect
Natural stimulant. Contributes to physical and mental energy.
Dosage
Pour hot (70°C) water over the dried plant material and let it steep. Or vaporise (100°-150°C).
Do not combine with caffeine containing drinks like coffee or energy drinks.
