Big Bud is famous for her high yields and big sparkly buds. The first clone only Big Bud was a mix of Afghanica and Skunk. By breeding the Big Bud clone with an exceptional Afghani, Sensi Seeds brought the strain back to her full glory culminating in the award-winning Big Bud. After years of breeding, Sensi Seeds has further perfected Big Bud producing their own reliable feminised version. Big Bud Feminised is easy to grow, but it’s her sizable yield that remains the strain’s central feature.
Big Bud Phenotype
There are three known Big Bud phenotypes: sativa dominant, indica dominant, and a third homogenous phenotype. Naturally, the sativa dominant phenotype stretches more than the indica dominant phenotype. Besides the various phenotypes, there are dozens of Big Bud variations. Sensi Seeds’ version remains the most popular to this day.
Feminised Traits
Feminised seeds are specifically bred to produce all female plants. Purchasing high-quality genetics from reputable seedbanks is highly recommended, this diminishes your chances of finding male or hermaphrodite plants among your crop. Feminised plants, contrary to autoflowers, depend on the photoperiod to flower. In the early growing stage feminised marijuana plants need 18 hours of daylight and 6 hours of darkness. The plants start the flowering period at the end of the summer (usually August) as the days become shorter and the amount of sunlight diminishes (12 hours of daylight and 12 hours of darkness). Compared to autoflowering seeds, feminised seeds have the following advantages:
- Plants are usually taller/more robust
- Higher yield
- Higher potency than autoflowering plants
- Possibility to extend the growing stage/develop mother plants
Fragrance & Flavour
Big Bud smells and tastes sweet, fruity, earthy and spicy. The flavour has undertones of musk, traces of pepper and even some citrus notes that linger on the tongue.
Effects
Big Bud provides a relaxing high ideal for a quiet night in. The powerful full body stoned effect is complemented by a slight cerebral pick me up that’ll make you feel positively euphoric. The heavy bodied sensation is so calming , you might find yourself sinking into the couch and drifting off.
Growing Characteristics
Big Bud performs best in warm sunny climates with long summers. Big Bud feminised is very resilient and sturdy, requiring little maintenance. The vigorous grower flowers for 50-65 days with an average height gain in the flowering period. The plant’s size is easy to control and predict. Big Bud can grow to medium or tall heights with a longer growing time (vegetation time) before flowering, but final height can also be kept under 30 cm if plants flower as seedlings. Big Bud plants tend to focus their energy on the main stem. Named for her enormous production, Big Bud yields fat, sparkly resinous nugs.
