Trichocereus pasacana even shares the common name Cardon Grande with another cactus to further complicate matters. Originating in the high-altitude regions of Argentina and Bolivia, this tree-like, slow growing cactus can reach heights of 10 metres in its 300-plus-year life span. With a stem 30-80 cm in diameter, a dense covering of spines and rose-white flowers, Trichocereus pasacana is a substantial and attractive addition to a garden.
