Description
Trichocereus scopulicola native to Bolivia is one of a number of cacti containing the psychedelic alkaloid mescaline. The columnar cactus gets its name scopulicola, which means growing or living among rocks, from its natural habitat in rocky slopes in the mountainous regions of Bolivia. Approximately 4 m in height and 10 cm in diameter, Trichocereus scopulicola sometimes has small spines approximately 1 mm long but is often spineless. Its skin is dull green to olive or dark green and has a rough grainy texture. T. scopulicola usually forms only four or five ribs. The ribs, generally without indentations or grooves, slope downwards giving the cactus a wrinkled appearance. A Trichocereus scopulicola cactus with five ribs usually loses a rib as it grows. Cacti with four ribs are the most sought after for use in magico-religious ceremonies. Andean shaman believe the four ribs correspond to the four winds or four roads, a supernatural force associated with the cardinal points. Trichocereus scopulicola is a sun-loving, fast growing cactus. Grow your own Trichocereus scopulicola from seed!
Content: 20 seeds (Non-edible)
