How do you use the Pocket Microscope 20X LED?

Hold the microscope against a leaf, stem or bud and turn the focus wheel until the image is sharp. The built-in LED lights the surface evenly; pests and eggs stand out. Check the undersides of leaves first, that’s where spider mites, thrips and whitefly settle.

What is the UV light for?

Switch to the UV flashlight and trichome heads fluoresce, which makes the resin glands easier to pick out against the leaf. Use it to find and count trichomes, but judge ripeness under the white LED, clear, cloudy and amber colour only reads true in white light.

What can you see at 20x magnification?

Plenty for pest control, not enough for trichomes. At 20x you spot crawling insects, eggs and leaf damage across the whole plant, fast. For reading trichome colour at harvest you need 30x or more, that’s a job for the Carson Pocket Microscope 60-120x.

How does a microscope help prevent an infestation?

Early detection decides whether you treat two leaves or lose a harvest. Check your plants weekly with the microscope and hang a yellow sticky trap to catch flying pests between checks. Found sap-suckers like spider mites or aphids? Rogis OFG Garlic stops them feeding, without chemicals.
